Bernie's running!

Your support has given this movement the most important head start we could hope for: an organized grassroots army spanning the country and ready for action. You are helping us build direct outreach programs for phone banking, texting, and door knocking, one-on-one trainings with group leaders and volunteers, and event hosting guides for anyone and everyone interested in hosting an event.

Our Revolution President Nina Turner selected as one of the Bernie 2020 Campaign Co-Chairs

Following the launch of Sen. Bernie Sanders' second presidential campaign, Sen. Nina Turner announced that she will be taking a leave of absence from serving as president of Our Revolution. Sen. Turner will serve as campaign co-chair for the Sanders campaign. During the leave of absence, Sen. Turner will remain on Our Revolution's board of Directors.
Under the leadership of Sen. Turner, Our Revolution has grown to over 600 local groups in all 50 states and nine countries. From Medicare for All to immigration reform to a $15 minimum wage, Our Revolution is organizing in support of many of the issues that Sen. Sanders ran on and endorsing candidates committed to enacting progressive policies in their communities.

Bernie 2020 Tabling Guide

Check out our brand new Bernie 2020 Tabling Guide! Our Revolution staff members and volunteers have collaborated to develop this guide so that any local group, no matter how big or small, can start spreading the word about Bernie 2020 right in their communities.

Our Revolution Local Groups Organize for Medicare for All

The Our Revolution Texting Team texted in preparation for the Medicare for All Week of Action, driving attendance to local barnstorms and phone calls to Congress. In partnership with a coalition spearheaded by National Nurses United, we are hosting close to a thousand local actions across the country in the coming weeks. Thanks to your hard work, Rep. Jayapal introduced her bill with 107 co-sponsors. Let's keep working to make sure this bill gets passed. Click here to find a Medicare for All barnstorm near you!

Our Revolution President Nina Turner and Board Member Jim Hightower Rally with Our Revolution Texas

Senator Nina Turner was met with great enthusiasm and energy from Our Revolution Texas. She traveled across Houston and Dallas with Board Member Jim Hightower, met many fine political revolutionaries, and participated in the beginnings of a great Bernie Blue wave forming in Texas.

Our Revolution Somerville Stands with Royal Hospitality Services Workers

In Sommerville, Massachusetts, due to the Green Line extension, Royal Hospitality Services may close in a few years, displacing more than 350 jobs in Union Sq. More than half the workers live in Somerville, many within walking distance of the plant. Somerville Stands Together is supporting a campaign to find a new home for the company in Somerville.
Our Revolution Somerville members attended the Somerville City Council Finance Committee meeting on Feb. 11, where several workers from Royal Hospitality testified with support from co-workers who are members of UFCW Local 1445.

March details:
U.S. hands off Venezuela!

NO to the coup — NO to sanctions — NO to a new U.S. war

On Saturday, March 16, thousands of people from all over the United States will march in Washington, D.C. against the Trump administration’s brazen coup in Venezuela and a new devastating war there. The outrageous, illegal attacks against Venezuela repeats the ugly pattern of wars for regime change in the oil-rich countries of Iraq and Libya. National Security Advisor John Bolton is reading from the same script, declaring a “troika of tyranny” in Latin America (like the George W. Bush’s “axis of evil”) as a precursor for attempted regime change first in Venezuela, and then Cuba and Nicaragua. Trump has always said that the real “mistake” of the Middle East wars was that the U.S. didn’t “take the oil.”

It is time to stand up and with a clear voice say NO to the newest example of the “Monroe Doctrine,” which the U.S. government has used for over two centuries to repeatedly invade Latin America and Caribbean, control its politics and extract its resources.

The White House aims to overthrow the government of President Nicolás Maduro and replace him with Juan Guaidó. Guaidó is a U.S.-trained operative who was unknown to the vast majority of Venezuelans before he proclaimed himself president — at Vice President Mike Pence’s urging. Although Guaidó has the backing of Trump, the CIA, and the Republican and Democratic Party leaderships alike, huge numbers of Venezuelans have marched to reject this coup and defend their independence.

On March 16, the people of the United States will show the world that the billionaire politicians do not speak for us. We say:

U.S. hands off Venezuela!
NO to the coup — the U.S. does not have the right to select other country’s leaders!
NO to the sanctions, oil embargo and economic war on Venezuela that is already causing suffering for ordinary people in the country.
NO to military intervention and war from the U.S. and their proxies in the region.

The 4 for Fair Food Tour takes off from Immokalee! Coalition of Immokalee Workers

Coalition of Immokalee Workers<workers@ciw-online.org>
To  a
And on Saturday, after a long night of driving, the group arrived in high spirits to Raleigh, North Carolina, where they were met by CIW’s Julia de la Cruz and the Alliance for Fair Food’s Alex Schelle, some of those who had been camped out in North Carolina for over a month, laying the groundwork for next week’s march on UNC Chapel Hill’s campus. A big thanks to the UCC Community Church of Chapel Hill for hosting the CIW for our first lunch! Having filled our bellies, we headed to the place we will call home for the next several days: Chapel Hill’s Camp New Hope! [...]
[...] Tomorrow, the fun and action really gets started. Between attending local church services at the United Church of Chapel Hill and St. Thomas More Catholic Church, holding a vigil at the UNC Wendy’s, flyering on campus, picketing in front of the UNC Wendy’s, and – at long last – Tuesday’s major march winding through UNC’s campus, it is promising to be a packed few days!

For all those in the Triangle Area, please come out and spread the word about to tonight’s Vigil for Farmworker Rights!

When: March 3rd, 6:00 PM
Where: UNC’s Wendys (209 South Road, Chapel Hill NC 27514)

If you are in North Carolina, and have not yet finalized your plans to join the march through UNC’s campus on Tuesday, make sure to nail them down! Farmworkers and allies will be joined by human rights leader and longtime CIW ally Kerry Kennedy, who will be marching alongside the CIW and speaking at the rally along with hundreds of other local leaders from the faith, labor and student communities of the Triangle Area!

When: March 5th, 2:00 PM
Where: 101 W Weaver St, Carrboro, NC 27510-2017
And finally, don’t forget that we can’t make the 4 for Fair Food Tour happen without your support.  Make sure to donate today to fund the CIW bus and share the fundraiser with your friends and family!

/Will the crisis lead to a major new war?/

The US is trying to overthrow the Maduro government with military
threats, economic warfare and diplomatic isolation.  But the solutions
for the problems in Venezuela are for the Venezuelans to decide.  The
peace movement must oppose US intervention and support a resolution
through peaceful dialogue!
*Mike Clark* will provide necessary historical context with the theme
"Venezuela vs the Empire: A coup 21 years in the making."  Rev. Clark is
the Recovery Outreach Worker at the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist
Church.  From 2004-14 he visited Venezuela seven times and saw firsthand
the accomplishments of the Bolivarian revolution.
*Dan Kovalik* will speak on "The deadly and illegal US sanctions against
Venezuela, and the legitimacy of Maduro’s election."  Dan currently
teaches at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law; he served 25
years as Associate General Counsel of the United Steelworkers.  Dan is a
longtime activist opposing US intervention in Latin America and was an
observer of both of Maduro's elections.
