CALL TO ACTION - SATURDAY DEMO, BOSTON COMMON-Build The Anti-Fascist United Front- Veterans For Peace

The alt-right, in one guise or another, is planning a demonstration on Boston Common this coming Saturday, Aug. 19.  There will be counter-protestors, hopefully many times the number of  those who Trump calls the other side.  Tensions will be high and we, Veterans For Peace, will be there as protesters acting in a peace keeping capacity.  As such and for identification purposes, we are asking everyone to wear a shirt that has our big VFP logo on the front.  We will be bringing our flags, but we can’t rely on these for ID purposes because the cops may not allow the PVC poles.  On this note, it goes without saying – we do not carry weapons of any kind.

To his credit, Mayor Walsh is doing everything he can to quash the demonstration.  What that means, however, is that right now we don’t know exactly when, where or even if the demonstration will happen.  Given this uncertainty, we’re planning to assemble at the Brewer Fountain at 9:30 a.m.  The fountain is right next to the Park St. T station.  As we get more information, especially regarding the time to assemble,  we will send out updates on our list-serve and the Samantha list-serve.  So, stay tuned, and look for “Call to Action” in your email.  Let’s really gear up for this demo. Our democracy is under attack. Bring friends even if they don’t plan to participate in our uniformed peace-keeping mission.
