A View From The Left-It's The Bill And Bernie Show

We may end up with America’s first female president or its first Jewish president or its first Canadian-born president or perhaps its first reality show president. But no matter happens on November 8, 2016, I confidently predict that patriarchy, white supremacy and capitalism will remain unchallenged and unquestioned in the Land of the Free~Mickey Z.  [Writer Mickey Z. makes 2016 US election predictions]

It's the Bill and Bernie show! ~Mickey Z.  Excerpt:
Fox News and the Democratic Party both play roles in the US electoral show, says American writer and political analyst Mickey Z.

Mickey Z., the author of Occupy This Book and Occupy These Photos, made the remarks in an interview with press TV.
"...You see, we’re supposed to believe we live in a democracy. To keep this illusion alive, we have TV characters playing the role of mortal enemies. We sit complacent, entranced by the spectacle, while the corporate puppeteers keep their eyes focused on next quarter’s profits as they urge us  to vote - from a pre-selected list of options, of course,” he observed.

“Both Bill and Bernie have been at this a long time. They know their lines...

"I could shoot people in the streets and not lose support" ~the empire's 2016 election foil, Donald Trump
He's right ...and wrong. They would, certainly (but not because HIS sheeple are so enthusiastic). He has EVIDENCE: americans have ALWAYS supported their evil-doers. The other 2016 (and past) selectees are responsible for shooting/bombing people in the streets, and torturing them behind the scenes; yet @ 50% of americans know it and support them and other Israeli-approved wanabees.  (The rest of us -- 'election' boycotters--don't and won't.)

UFPJ petition: Stop Sending Weapons to Saudi Arabia

UFPJ petition: Stop Sending Weapons to Saudi Arabia

Dear United for Justice with Peace,
Despite Saudi Arabia's history of aggression, brutality, and human rights abuses, the United States continues to provide the country with weapons and the tools to commit its violence.
Please sign a petition to make that stop.
UFPJ has banded with partner organizations to:
  1. Call on the governments of the world to stop providing Saudi Arabia with weaponry.
  2. Boycott and divest from and implement sanctions against that country until its government ends its military aggression and abuse of human rights.
Click here to sign the petition to stop supporting Saudi Arabia.
This petition is just the beginning of a broader campaign that we're taking part in to address Saudi Arabia and US weapons deals.
After you've signed the petition, please make a contribution to UFPJ to help fund our continued efforts for peace and diplomacy and consider becoming a monthly sustainer.
Here are four reasons to take action against Saudi Arabia:
  1. Saudi Arabia buys huge amounts of U.S. and European weaponry, which it uses to slaughter civilians in Yemen, including bombing a hospital, and to repress democracy at home and in neighboring Bahrain.
  2. Saudi Arabia sells huge amounts of fossil fuels to the United States and other nations, which they use to render the earth's climate uninhabitable.
  3. Saudi Arabia is the leading source of funding for violent groups terrorizing the Middle East, as well as the attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001.
  4. Saudi Arabia brutally oppresses its own people, including beheading pro-democracy activists.
Thank you for joining us in taking important this important action today!
-UFPJ

In Boston February 27th -From Veterans For Peace- Stand With Our Muslim Friends

In Boston February 27th -From Veterans For Peace- Stand With Our Muslim Friends

CALLING ALL VETERANS
STAND WITH OUR MUSLIM FRIENDS

SAVE THE DATE: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27
TIME: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
WHERE: Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center,
(Largest Mosque in New England).
ADDRESS: 100 Malcolm X Blvd. Roxbury, MA

We are planning a gathering / program / rally at the Islamic Society of Boston on Saturday, February 27. This is the largest Mosque in New England, located in Roxbury, MA. We have been working with members of the Mosque to put together a program showing our support, as veterans, for our Muslim friends, neighbors and co-workers.

PLEASE REACH OUT TO FELLOW VETERANS AND ASK THEM TO JOIN US. WE ARE INVITING OTHER VETERANS TO JOIN US FOR THIS VERY IMPORTANT GATHERING TO MAKE IT CLEAR VETERANS STAND AGAINST THIS HATRED, BIGOTRY AND ISLAMOPHOBIA DIRECTED TOWARDS OUR MUSLIM FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS AND COWORKERS.

We anticipate the speaking part of the program to last about an hour then we will move inside to share conversation and snacks. The speakers will consist of veterans, Muslim members of the Mosque and invited guests.

We have all seen and heard the hateful xenophobia / Islamophobia language directed towards Muslims. These hateful attacks towards American Muslims continue to fester and in some cases have resulted in violence towards innocent Muslims here in the U.S. Local Muslims have told us of them being harassed on the street. If a Muslim woman is wearing a head scarf it makes her an easy target. Pat Scanlon, chair of our committee, says "I am friends with a Muslim family whose twelve-year-old daughter told me that she was harassed in the schoolyard by a boy in her class who was calling her a terrorist. This young girl is an Iraqi refugee, straight A student, popular and is the ultimate young American girl and proudly just became an American citizen. She does not wear a head scarf yet was targeted in the schoolyard by another student."

We as veterans intend to gather at the Mosque to show our support and solidarity with the Muslim community and to demand an immediate stop to this targeting of the religion of Islam and our Muslims friends with hateful rhetoric and actions. We want to make it clear that "Muslims are Not Our Enemy".

Please see our message below and please ask fellow veterans to join us to stand against this hatred, bigotry and Islamophobia.

Smedley Muslim Friendship Committee

A View From The Left-From Socialist Alternative-Feel The Bern

Frank Jackman comment:

Usually when I post something from some other source, mostly articles and other materials that may be of interest to the radical public that I am trying to address I place the words “ A View From The Left” in the headline and let the subject of the article speak for itself, or let the writer speak for him or herself without further comment whether I agree with the gist of what is said or not. After all I can write my own piece if some pressing issue is at hand. I do so here.

How Can We Win Bernie's
Political Revolution?

Boston-Wide Discussion: Saturday 1/30 at 6:30pm

The media doesn't want Bernie to win. The DNC doesn't want Bernie to win. The billionaires don't want Bernie to win. We need a grassroots movement to elect Bernie and win this political revolution!

Bernie's campaign has electrified millions of people across the country with a bold call for the 99% to lead a political revolution against the billionaire class. But what does this political revolution entail?

If elected, Bernie will be met with bitter resistance from establishment politicians of both the Democrats and the Republicans.  As Bernie says, the 99% hold the real power to make change in society, but we have to use it.
What can we do to ensure Bernie gets elected, and how can we win Bernie's radical program of a political revolution?

We'll be hearing from several leaders of local social movements here in Boston, talking about how their work ties into the #Movement4Bernie. If you
#FeelTheBern but also see the need to go beyond just electing Bernie to the White House to win this revolution, join #Movement4Bernie in this exciting community discussion!

We will also be discussing plans for a
#March4Bernie2 in Boston! On Saturday, February 27th, there will be a second #March4Bernie national day of action, and we want to get as many people involved in the planning process as possible here in Boston!

We hope to see you this Saturday at 6:30pm!
