The third and most effective option is to promote a political solution, a diplomatic initiative that will lead to peace, not more chaos, and death. 1. Vote to oppose authorizing military force in Syria The Authorization of Use of Military Force (AUMF) is a wide-open, blank check for war. 2. The only solution to the crisis is a diplomatic solution starting with a ceasefire, convening a conference of all the countries in the region, parties on the ground and the United Nations and continued humanitarian support for those fleeing the civil war. 3.
