From Richard Wright's influential memoir *Black Boy* to the
autobiography of political exile Assata Shakur, the stories of African
American radicals retain the power to teach and inspire. What can we
learn today by studying the experiences and reflections of past
generations of radical activists? In an era where our public schools and
our communities are sites of growing struggles, what can previous
generations of black radicals teach us today that can help to strengthen
our community movements for social justice, in the classroom... and beyond?
Please join us for a panel discussion and community dialogue, featuring
speakers: Mimi Jones, Tony Van Der Meer, Nino Brown, Joseph G. Ramsey,
and Jessie Gardner. The conversation will be hosted by Dorotea Manuela
and Suren Moodliar of Encuentro Cinco.
