U.S. government officials love to talk about "national security." But when Hurricane Harvey struck our country, the government response was sluggish.

This is no time for members of the Senate and House to be on vacation! While some federal funds are in the pipeline, this disaster requires greater urgency.

Click here to demand that Congress reconvene in emergency session immediately to take action for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Many thousands of people now need emergency assistance such as housing in areas devastated by this hurricane.

The U.S. government spares no taxpayer expense to bomb people overseas. In sharp contrast, FEMA has proposed that individual Americans privately fund Hurricane Harvey relief efforts themselves.

You can quickly and easily send an email to your senators and representativeTell them to urgently respond to the real emergency left in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Even Mexico has offered to help pay for recovery from Hurricane Harvey, an offer that President Trump has not accepted, though he continues to demand that Mexico pay for a wall.

As a constituent, your voice can have clout -- so please click here to insist that Congress meet in emergency session to provide maximum help for victims of this devastating hurricane.

Also, you could tell those lawmakers to heed a plea that Martin Luther King Jr. made 50 years ago: “There is nothing except a tragic death wish to prevent us from reordering our priorities so that the pursuit of peace will take precedence over the pursuit of war.”

And please insist that your senators and representative in Congress prepare for future disasters in addition to properly addressing climate change as the existential crisis that it is.

After signing the petition, please use the tools on the next webpage to share it with your friends.
