American Promise Act of 2017
The Massachusetts TPS Committee is advocating a bill in Congress introduced by Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-NY-7) call the American Promise Act of 2017.
BMDC advocates principled demands rather than specific legislation, but it would be worthwhile for us to understand the legislation being proposed.
I don't think anyone has illusions that this Congress will pass legislation to protect immigrant rights. For people in danger of losing TPS, waiting until 2018 for another chance to vote for the Democrats is going to be too little, too late. We need a mass action strategy that can leverage power to stop these attacks now.
