From Veterans For Peace- Can you help support Zahid?

Can you help support Zahid?
Tomorrow morning, November 7th at 8:30am is the final hearing for disabled U.S. Army veteran Zahid Chaudhry.  Zahid is a Veterans For Peace member and Chapter President of the chapter in Olympia, Washington.

Veterans For Peace asks that anyone in a position to judge Zahid's character and his commitment to his country reflect deeply on his remarkable and multifaceted service to our nation over many years before deciding his fate
It is inconceivable that a man who would make such a sacrifice for his country would be treated in this way. Our veterans, regardless of their birthplace, do not deserve to be ripped from their homes and deported, particularly when they have dedicated themselves to building community and a just and peaceful future. Our veterans and community leaders deserve our gratitude, not irrational judgments based in fear.

Given our current political environment, it may be more important than ever that we lift up our image to the world, demonstrate justice still prevails in the U.S., and dismiss this deportation hearing in favor of Zahid and allow him his right to become a citizen of the country he has dedicated his life to serving.  (Read Veterans For Peace Statement of Support of Zahid Chaudhry)

ACTION ITEMS:
  • Write an email of support for Zahid Chaudhry addressed to Judge Paul De Fonzo of Immigration Court, Seattle, WA or USCIS Director Leon Rodriguez, to stop his agency’s secret, discriminatory & unconstitutional program that directs officers to deny immigration rights based on an applicant’s perceived religion or country of origin. Email your letters to: justice4chaudhry@gmail.com
  • If you are in Seattle or the surrounding area, come to court and show your support.  Court starts promptly at 8:30 am tomorrow morning, November 7, 2017. Visit https://keepzahidhome.org/ for more details on how to show your support in the courtroom.
  • Sign the petition to Stop Deporting Veterans! The U.S. has likely deported thousands of our veterans since the 1990s. They've been separated from their families, denied health care and benefits they are owed, and relocated to other countries without having their service matter.  Sign the petition now!
Veterans For Peace appreciates your generous donations.
We also encourage you to join our ranks.
