By 2023, the final year included in President Trump's budget request, military spending would make up 65 percent of the federal discretionary budget, compared to 54 percent in 2018.

Dear Friends,
This note is to invite you to the initial organizing meeting for Tax Day 2018 to be held on the Cambridge Common on April 14. This organizing meeting will take place this coming Thursday, February 15 at 6pm. It will be held at Encuentro 5 (E5) on 9A Hamilton Place, practically across the street from Park street station. (There are 2 doors at 9 Hamilton. Use the one closest to the Orpheum Theatre)
With all that has been going on in Washington in recent months (passage of the Tax-cut Bill, continuing resolutions, battles over DACA, the two year budget passed early this morning, the upcoming release of Trump’s budget) it’s important that we create a Tax Day event that allows us to give voice to budget priorities based on the real needs of people. While the new budget deal lifts the caps on non-defense spending it also guarantees a massive increase in Pentagon spending at the same time that tax rate cuts for corporations and high rollers will be draining the public treasury in upcoming years.
