Boston, Mass.-Nov. 11, 2015:
The Smedley Butler Brigade-Boston Veterans For Peace,
was forced again this Veterans/Armistice Day to march
behind the "official" pro-war parade.
About 50 peace veterans and supporters braved a cold rain,
marching from Boston Common down Boylston and Tremont
Streets to a rally-speakout outside Faneuil Hall.
The VFP contingent got more applause than the military
units who were marching. The saddest thing was the
Jr. ROTC child soldiers in the parade; many high school
students
of economic disadvantage in ROTC to obtain college
tuition--child soldiers are against international law.
At the end rally, VFP speakers memorialized members
that
had passed on this past year, as well as relating the
true
history of Armistice Day, a day to celebrate peace, not
to
glorify war.
