As part of our Humanizing How We Teach About Violent Conflict and Peacebuilding project, join the Joiner Institute for a lecture by West Point graduate, Iraq War veteran, devoted peace activist, and author, Paul K Chappell.

Visiting from the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA, Paul K. Chappell will present students a thoughtful alternative to violence and warfare, and offer a peaceful way forward in a world that can seem fractured, divided, and violent. A rare lecture on the East Coast, Paul K. Chappell's talk is not to be missed!

The son of a half-black and half-white father who fought in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and a Korean mother, Paul K. Chappell grew up in Alabama. He graduated from West Point in 2002, was deployed to Iraq, and left active duty in November 2009 as a captain. His whole life, he has sought answers to the issues of war and peace; rage and trauma; and vision, purpose, and hope. Paul K. Chappell serves as the peace leadership director for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation (NAPF), whose mission is to educate and advocate for peace and a world free of nuclear weapons, and to empower peace leaders.
