This space is dedicated to the proposition that we need to know the history of the struggles on the left and of earlier progressive movements here and world-wide. If we can learn from the mistakes made in the past (as well as what went right) we can move forward in the future to create a more just and equitable society. Oakland Teachers Strike - Video Update and Analysis from the First Week!

We have just been through an incredible first two days of picket lines and rallies that proved the massive support which exists in Oakland for the striking Teachers of the Oakland Education Association (OEA). Outrageous class sizes, school closures, Charterization of the district, and low pay have created this crisis which the teachers are now fighting to resolve.
