The 4 year long War in Yemen has become the world's worst humanitarian crisis. Led by Saudi Arabia, with the direct help of the United States, a vicious air campaign has killed tens of thousands thousands of civilians and brought millions of Yemenis to the brink of famine.

American involvement is in large part driven by the large weapons manufacturers that make billions of dollars from this conflict. Raytheon, based right here in Massachusetts, is one of the largest of these companies. They are visiting BU, among several other Bay State colleges and universities, to put on a campus career fair recruiting students into their workforce.

In preparation for this we've invited Shireen Al-Adeimi, a professor at Michigan State University who has lived through 2 civil wars in Yemen, to give her perspective on U.S. intervention. Beth Huang, co-chair of Boston DSA will connect anti-imperialism to the work of Democratic Socialists of America.

War Profiteers Off Campus!

Protest Raytheon Weapons Sales to Saudi Arabia

Raytheon is a major weapons manufacturer and war profiteer with headquarters in Waltham, MA.  Multiple weapons made by Raytheon were found to have been responsible for the deaths of many civilians in Yemen, including children.
Raytheon is attending career fairs to recruit engineers to build more bombs and missiles.   Join us to protest and show our extreme disapproval of the sale of these weapons to Saudi Arabia.   War profiteers off campus!

HANDS OFF VENEZUELA!!!

Yesterday, US President Donald Trump took the extraordinary and illegal action to recognize the president of Venezuela's legislature as the "interim president" of the country. The Alliance for Global Justice has launched a campaign against US intervention that includes a petition against regime change efforts. Sign the petition HERE to tell your elected officials NO US-ENGINEERED COUP In Venezuela! It is clear that the US government and corporate media believe they have entered the final offensive to replace the elected Venezuelan government of President Nicolas Maduro with one that will be subservient to US interests. Tell your elected officials (US and Canadian) that you oppose foreign intervention in Venezuela's internal affairs. This action is counter to both the United Nations and Organization of American States Charters and thus illegal under international law.
Massachusetts Peace Action has joined other groups in supporting an emergency speak out tomorrow against U.S. regime change efforts in Venezuela:

Friday, January 25
5:30 - 6:30 pm
Copley Square, Boston

1/25 Emergency Action Against US Coup in Venezuela, Copley Square 5:30 p.m.

Charlie Welch<cwelch@tecschange.org>
Emergency Solidarity Action for Venezuela!
We are supporting the emergency call--issued by a left organization--for
a demonstration on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Please see below for the Facebook
event and check there for updates on times and locations.

Background: There is a right-wing coup attempt underway in Venezuela
orchestrated by the Trump White House and the CIA along with its junior
partners — the so-called Lima Group. The democratically-elected
government of Nicolás Maduro has broken relations with the U.S.
government and ordered the U.S. embassy in Caracas closed and all its
agents to leave the country within 72 hours. We are witnessing once
again a classic example of U.S. imperialism and its proxies attempting
to carry out an illegal regime change operation against a legitimate
government. People all over the world need to stand in solidarity with
Venezuela in this critical moment.

The Trump administration’s rhetoric about human rights and democracy is
completely hollow. Venezuela is in fact being targeted because it has a
socialist government that challenges corporate power and resists
Washington's diktat.

We call on all progressive people and opponents of U.S. wars and the
military industrial complex to rally in defense of Venezuela’s
sovereignty and the Bolivarian Revolution.

Say NO to US intervention in Venezuela!
End the Sanctions!
Respect Venezuelan Sovereignty!
Imperialists Hands OFF Venezuela!

Take Action: Tell your Reps to Create a GAO Investigation Before Another Base Is Built in Okinawa

Take Action: Tell your Reps to Create a GAO Investigation Before Another Base Is Built in Okinawa

Okinawa is moving toward crisis. Their vigil at the gate has continued for more that 5000 days; their actual sit-in (blocking construction vehicles) more than 1000.  A move by GAO could have an impact.  Please take a few minutes to send this letter off.
It is written as an appeal to the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) to launch an investigation of that project.  Last year’s GAO report on the Marines in the Asia-Pacific contained veiled criticisms of the Henoko project, so there is a real possibility that they might take this up big time.
But to do that they need a nudge from Congress. The letter form below makes it very easy to send the text of this resolution to your congresspeople.
If you have already signed, can you forward to a friend?
It's so important that we get as many letters sent as possible!
