7/07 to 9 Be a part of Cosecha's National Boycott Launch

From: Sergio Hurtado, Cosecha [info@actionnetwork.org]

In February, 350 immigrant leaders from all over the country went to
Boston to participate in the launch of Un Dia Sin Inmigrantes. After
hundreds of thousands of immigrants took the streets on May 1st, we’re
ready to ring in the summer with regional gatherings to launch a season
of national boycotts.
Are you ready for a national boycott? Register for a gathering here.

This summer, we enter the next phase in our struggle for permanent
protection, dignity and respect. Over the next month, immigrant workers,
parents, and youth will gather across the country for 3-day regional
gatherings to launch a national boycott.Immigrants contribute billions
of dollars every year to the economy, yet we are exploited and attacked.
Corporations make billions of dollars from our consumption, yet some are
the largest funders of the detention and deportation of our people.

This summer we will stop business as usual. We are going after
corporations and businesses who thrive off the money of immigrants, but
refuse to accept our presence in country. This summer, they will feel
the power of our people.

Be a part of the national boycott launch, attend a Regional Gathering
near you:

Nueva Jersey- TBD

¡Hasta el boicot!

In Boston- 6/24 SAVE THE Temporary Protected Status (TPS)

SAVE THE TPS

Centro Presente invites you to a vigil in solidarity with people protected under Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

WHERE: Massachusetts State House
24 Beacon St, Boston, MA
WHEN: Saturday, June 24th at 6:00 p.m.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), will consider whether to extend designations of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for all nationals that currently hold TPS. TPS is a form of immigration status that provides employment authorization and protection from deportation for foreign nationals who cannot be safely returned to their home countries.

In terms of countries with the largest share of TPS recipients, the Trump Administration will decide whether to terminate the immigration status of over 300,000 immigrants from El Salvador, Honduras, and, most imminently, Haiti. In light of this Administration’s radical increase of interior and exterior enforcement through executive orders, funding requests, and policy guidance, the continued existence of TPS for these three countries is very much at risk.

Enough is enough Justice for Philando Castile Terrence Coleman and all
victims of police brutality!

After 5 days of jury deadlock, the jury delivered a not guilty verdict
in the murder trial of officer Jeronimo Yanez who killed Philando
Castile in a car with his daughter in the backseat. The shooting was
broadcast live on Facebook and was one of the highest profile cases of 2016.

This non-indictment comes on the heels of injustice delivered on every
other hi profile case of 2016. The recent not guilty verdict of Tulsa
officer Betty Shelby in the Terrence Crutcher case in Tulsa, OK, the
Department of Justice non-indictment in the Alton Sterling case in Baton
Rouge, LA, and the earlier non-indictment in the Keith Scott case in
Charlotte, NC. All of these murders were captured on video.

In Boston we continue to expose the cover-up and murders by the Boston
police and other agencies. We demand the immediate arrest and indictment
of Boston police officers Kevin Finn and Garrett Boyle for the murder of
Terrence Coleman. We demand to conviction of ex-MBTA officer Jennifer
Amyot Garvey for felony assault of Roxbury resident Mary Holmes and
filing a false police report. We demand the reopening of the case of the
shooting of Usaamah Rahim by the Joint Terrorism Task Force of the FBI
and the Boston police department.

From The Committee For International Labor Defense-Colombian Labor Activist Released-

We can mark another small victory: Colombian political prisoner David Ravelo has been released. Thanks to all who worked to free him.  Tom Whitney, who has worked on the Ravelo defense for many years and who visited him in prison, sent us confirmation of the good news.

CILD members raised David Ravelo’s defense in China on several occasions, most recently in April and May, and arranged for a Colombian Communist Party comrade of David Ravelo to speak at a major forum organized by the Communist Party of China.

Last December, a CILD contingent led by Tom Whitney spoke with the Columbian Consul in Boston, with a petition signed by numerous organizations and individuals. The contingent also made clear that David Ravelo's defense has been raised in China.
