This is an urgent request that you join distinguished citizens of the world including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, other Nobel laureates and many others by signing our global petition to dismiss all charges against the Kings Bay Plowshares 7 (KBP7). They face 25 years in prison for exposing illegal and immoral nuclear weapons that threaten all life on Earth. The seven nonviolently and symbolically disarmed the Trident nuclear submarine base at Kings Bay, GA on April 4, 2018, the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. (View KBP7 reading their statementhere.)

This petition is also a plea for us all to be involved in rebuilding the anti-nuclear weapons movement that helped disarm the world's nuclear arsenals from 90,000 down to 15,000 weapons in the 1980s. BREAKING: Longtime CIW General Counsel Steve Hitov to receive national human rights award! Farmworkers and their allies march 234 miles from Ft. Myers, FL, to the offices of the Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association in Orlando in 2000. Steve Hitov, the CIW’s longtime General Counsel, is pictured (beard, cap, and light blue shirt) in the upper lefthand corner of the picture, in conversation with CIW’s Co-founder Lucas Benitez. Hitov selected to be inaugural recipient of the Gwynne Skinner Human Rights Award, given by the International Corporate Accountability Roundtable (ICAR)  He was with the CIW during the general strikes of the 1990’s, securing the release of farmworker leaders from the Collier County Jail when they were wrongly arrested by overzealous sheriff’s deputies. He was with the CIW in 2000, when we marched for two weeks – and 234 miles – across the state of Florida on the March for Dignity, Dialogue, and a Fair Wage (pictured above). He was with the CIW in 2005 when we negotiated our first-ever Fair Food Agreement with Taco Bell, and he was with us for every single Fair Food agreement since that first one, for a total of 14 groundbreaking agreements… and counting. And we are proud to say that on April 24th in Washington, DC, we will be with him when the CIW’s longtime consigliere, Steve Hitov, will be recognized for his untiring dedication – and unparalleled contribution – to the vital work of protecting workers’ fundamental human rights in corporate supply chains. On that day, Steve will receive the first-ever Gwynne Skinner Human Rights Award, presented by the International Corporate Accountability Roundtable (ICAR). It was only a few years ago that the corporate media and political establishment laughed us off when we said it was past time to guarantee health care as a right for all.

Well, that’s not the case anymore. Because right now Medicare for All is not only supported by the majority of Americans, it is also an idea embraced by many Democrats, including most running for president.

Let me be very clear: that did not happen by accident. It happened because of you. Because of us.

Together we have made incredible progress on this issue, but we are not finished yet.

Today I am reintroducing Medicare for All legislation in the Senate. And it's important that we send an unmistakable message to my colleagues that health care must be guaranteed as a right for all Americans.

I cannot do it alone. So I am asking you directly:

Add your name to say you support my Medicare-for-All, single-payer health care bill. Health care is a human right, not a privilege.

It will come as no surprise that the health insurance and pharmaceutical companies do not like our Medicare for All plan.

They would rather continue making billions in profits off a dysfunctional health care system that leaves millions of Americans struggling to get the care and prescription drugs that they need.

It has never made sense to me that our health care system is primarily designed to make huge profits for multibillion-dollar insurance companies, drug companies, hospitals, and medical equipment suppliers. Health care is not a commodity. It is a human right. And the goal of a sane health care system should be to keep people well, not to make stockholders rich.

So today we say to the private health insurance companies, whether they like it or not, the United States will join every other major country on earth and guarantee health care to all people as a right. All Americans are entitled to go to the doctor when they're sick and not go bankrupt after staying in the hospital.

If we are serious about providing high-quality and affordable health care to every man, woman, and child in this country, the only real solution is a Medicare for all, single-payer system that provides health care to ALL Americans.

Although we have seen growing support in Congress, the truth is that we are still taking on much of the political and financial establishment in this fight. There are many who still believe universal health care is a radical idea. But what they will soon realize is that this is a struggle whose time has come.

Today, as I re-introduce legislation in the Senate, we must send a powerful message that we are prepared to fight for – and win – Medicare for All. The only way we will win is if we are united and prepared to fight on this issue.

Let's show we're in this together:
