This space is dedicated to the proposition that we need to know the history of the struggles on the left and of earlier progressive movements here and world-wide. If we can learn from the mistakes made in the past (as well as what went right) we can move forward in the future to create a more just and equitable society. *Maine Voters-Vote To Keep Gay Marriage Rights On November 3rd !

This defeat, while maybe not as dramatic as that one in California last year, points to some disturbing attitudes toward gay/lesbian marriage even by those who claim to favor equal gay/lesbian rights on other issues. Strangely the judicial-legislative route seems to be the only one that is working on this issue these days. That is never a good sign. Markin
