This space is dedicated to the proposition that we need to know the history of the struggles on the left and of earlier progressive movements here and world-wide. If we can learn from the mistakes made in the past (as well as what went right) we can move forward in the future to create a more just and equitable society. I will be reviewing books, CDs and movies I believe everyone needs to read, hear and look at as well as making commentary from time to time.

I am an old militant who is trying to use these pages to collect my thoughts about books of a political and/or historical nature that I have read over the years. I am also trying to direct today's youth to books they NEED to read in order to understand the nature of the struggle against war and social injustice, what people before us did about it, and how we can learn from their mistakes (and successes, as well). In short, some books you need to read if you want to change this sorry world for the better. I also support the work of the Partisan Defense Committee, a non-sectarian, legal and social defense organization that supports class-war prisoners and organizes around other social issues. For more information google Partisan Defense Committee or write them at Box 99 Canal Street Station, New York, New York 1001. That organization stands in the tradition of the International Labor Defense which in the 1920's led the , unfortunately unsuccessful, fight to save Sacco and Vanzetti.
