Re-launch the Peace Action Mideast Working Group
On the very night of the Paris massacres,
Medea Benjamin came to Boston to show us how the U.S. Saudi Alliance is a key
reason for the instability and terror being visited upon the Middle East and
South Asia by western wars and devastating weapons, by murderous sectarian
groups, by repressive governments and by U.S. and Saudi bombing campaigns. She
urged us to participate in the new national campaign (started by Code Pink,
Peace Action, and other groups) to break up this destructive alliance as a step
toward Peace in the Area. (http://www.saudius.org)
U.S.
and other foreign military interventions and massive military assistance and
arms sales turned the area into a tinder box. And Saudi creation of an extensive
infrastructure breeding violent sectarian movements everywhere has lit the fuse.
In addition Human Rights Day offers us the opportunity to
raise our voices in support of the human rights of Syrian refugees and against
war escalation in response to the Paris bombings. Mass. Peace Action and UJP are
jointly sponsoring this action.
Finally,
Mass. Peace Action sees the need for a working group to address these
multi-pronged wars and human tragedies in a more coherent manner through the
creation of a Mideast working group.
Please join us Wednesday night at the Mass. Peace Action
Office, starting at 7pm
