Dear friends,
If there’s ever been a moment when our movement was needed,
it’s now.
The Paris climate talks have come down to the wire, and then some: the French
foreign minister, who is chairing the summit, announced this morning that the
negotiations would continue into Saturday, instead of
wrapping up this evening as originally planned. With so many conflicting reports
emerging from Paris, it’s almost impossible to know how things are really going,
or how the final hours of the talks will unfold.
Meanwhile, here in the United States, hateful rhetoric towards immigrants,
Muslims and people of color has reached terrifying new heights.
At this critical moment in history, the world desperately needs
people who are willing to stand up and speak the truth. No matter what
happens next, we have to keep building a movement to demand true climate
solutions that create jobs and ensure the resiliency of our communities. And no
matter what happens next, we have to keep standing in solidarity and insisting
on the dignity and humanity of all.
Can you join
us tomorrow as we take to the streets and march for
jobs, justice and climate action?
WHAT: Jobs, Justice & Climate Rally and
March WHEN: Saturday, Dec 12, 1:00pm -
3:00pm WHERE: Rally at Parkman Bandstand on the Boston
Common, followed by a march through downtown and a concluding rally at the State
House
RSVP here!
More than 140 faith groups, immigrants’ rights groups, labor unions and
social justice groups are sponsoring tomorrow’s march
and rally, and people are coming from all over New England to be there. We have
an incredibly inspiring line-up of speakers, including Karen Higgins, the
national co-president of National Nurses United; John Robbins of the Council on
American Islamic Relations of Massachusetts; and many more. (Check out the full list here!)
It'll be a day to
remember. I'll see you there!
In solidarity,
Emily Kirkland Communications Coordinator
PS: The basic plan for the day includes a rally from 1:00 -
1:30 at Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common, followed by a march
through downtown, with a closing rally from 2:30 - 3:00
pm at the State House. Note that the march will be
approximately 1.5 miles; if you don't want to march the whole way, you can meet
us at the State House for the closing rally. You can check out the march route
