Six Years In Jail Is Enough, More Than Enough- President Obama Pardon Chelsea Manning Now!- Report On Boston Chelsea Manning Stand-Out -May 21st

On Saturday May 21st a spirited stand out to commemorate heroic Wiki-Leaks whistle-blower Private Chelsea Manning sixth year of incarceration by the American military took place at the historic spot for such events-Park Street Station on the corner of the Boston Common.
Speakers pointed out that Private Manning had been taken into Army military police custody on May 27, 2010 and later held for months under torturous conditions at the Quantico Marine Base in Virginia. Chelsea Manning was tried and sentenced in a military court-martial at Fort Meade in Maryland to 35 years in August 2013 for releasing many military secrets through Wikileaks about U.S. crimes in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan among other revelations. One speaker pointed that if this sentence stands she will not be out until 2045 and gained loud applause when she pointed out that we cannot let this happen– we have to get her out!
Other speakers spoke to the legal case still pending in the long appeals process, Chelsea’s access to social media and the harassment and unnecessary horrors of being a woman in a men’s disciplinary barracks out in Fort Leavenworth out in the wheat fields of Kansas. A number of speakers urged the crowd and passers-by to sign the continuing on-line petition for a presidential pardon from President Barack Obama at the Chelsea Manning Support Network website- http://www.chelseamanning.org/ or at Amnesty International.org  A final speaker pointed out that those assembled at the stand-out were making sure that Chelsea Manning’s case remains in the public spotlight- we will not leave our sister behind. Free Chelsea Now!
