DPP’s “STANDOUT FOR BLACK LIVES” A SUCCESS!
Becky writes:
The first monthly Dorchester Standout for Black Lives happened yesterday (Thursday, May 18,) during evening rush hour at the Ashmont T station plaza and intersection. 50 people took part, a few of whom were passersby who saw us and joined in. The DPP members who were there and who organized it were happy with the turnout and the friendly tone of the action, and the large amount of car horn-honking in support. There was one car driver yelling "All lives matter," but no other overt negative reaction that I'm aware of. One African American woman was so happy to see us there that she went and bought us a couple of gallons of cold water and some plastic cups!
The next Standout for Black Lives will be Thursday, June 15, 5:30-6:30 PM, at the corner of Dorchester Ave. and Ashmont St. Please plan to come, and let Kelley or Becky know if you're willing to help.
