From Socialist Alternative- Socialist campaign raises 3X more than Democratic Party opponent In Minneapolis

Socialist Alternative-backed candidate Ginger Jentzen has raised nearly three times as much as her Democratic Party (DFL) opponent for Minneapolis City Council Ward 3! With a median donation of just $20 and over 1,000 individual donations, Ginger raised more than $60,000 - the most of any Minneapolis City Council campaign that doesn’t take money from big business or developers.
But big business money is already trying to buy the elections. A record $1.3 million has already flooded into Minneapolis’ mayoral election, much of it in corporate cash. The Minneapolis Downtown Council - an anti-$15 business group - has already donated in many council races, including in Ward 3, and spent $1500 hedging their bets on three mayoral candidates.
And we know this is only the beginning. When big developers see the strength of this political revolution, they will flood the election with maxed out donations to try to defeat the candidate calling for rent control and taxing wealthy developers to fund affordable housing.
#TeamGinger needs YOUR help! Let’s build on this momentum and raise another $600 tonight, to cancel out one of the many developer donations we know are coming. If 30 people chip in $20 right now we can do it.

Big business is buying their candidates - and Berners have chosen theirs! #TeamGinger is now endorsed by Our Revolution Twin Cities and the Democratic Socialists of America, in addition to unions that supported Bernie Sanders like the Minnesota Nurses Association and Communications Workers of America MN State Council.
“This all shows that we have the potential to build something new,” said Ginger Jentzen. “Bernie’s call for a political revolution against the billionaire class got a deep echo in Minneapolis and in Ward 3, though few in City Hall supported him. This mood persists. There’s outrage at the Minneapolis Police Department and corporate politics-as-usual in City Hall. Our groundswell of support shows the potential to build an entirely new political force, a new party of the 99%, and make a clean break from the big business interests that typically dominate the DFL establishment.”
Three months still remain until election day on November 7. That’s a lot of time for corporate cash to flood the elections. And it’s a lot of time to build a political revolution. Let’s make history and build a movement-based alternative to big business and developers. Can you join #TeamGinger and chip in today?
