Keep up the momentum: Fund the Wendy's Boycott buses!

To

Movements don't come together overnight.

They are built with years of persistence and patience. From the time they began meeting in a local church in 1993, farmworkers captured this insight in the form of a simple formula, one the community uses to this day: Consciousness + Commitment = Change. And this week, we witnessed an extraordinary show of the commitment from the Fair Food Nation.

Last Tuesday, we sent out a call for urgently-needed resources to the network — because in just two short weeks, we will journey together with over 50 farmworkers and their families from Immokalee to New York City for the weeklong Freedom Fast, and we will bring several hundred allies from as far west as Michigan for the massive #TimesUpWendys march.

So we asked for your help.  And we were inspired by your response.

Over 150 of you sent in contributions within the first two days!  From one donation of $2.63 to several of $500, people from San Diego to Baltimore sent in what they could to help. Churches called us asking about plans to sponsor a bus-load.

As of today, we have gained a lot of ground, but there's still a ways to go. We still have a significant funding gap to meet for the 6 buses and 3 caravans we are planning.

Today, based on the generosity of the Fair Food Nation so far, we are setting our new goalpost to 400 donors by March 11th, when the Freedom Fast begins in NYC. If we can reach 400 donors, we will be on target to meet our budget and get every last person ready to march alongside farmworkers to New York City. With such an overwhelming response the first time around, we know we can count on you.

See you in NYC!
