Johnson,
Earlier this week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that could effectively privatize veterans' healthcare. Now, this Koch Brothers’ CVA-sponsored bill is being considered in the Senate. This is our last chance to stop or change the legislation before it dismantles important parts of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Please call your senators at 833-480-1637 and tell them you strongly oppose the VA MISSION Act (S. 2372). Everyone should call, even if you’re not a veteran yourself.
Not sure what to say? Use this script:
My name is [Insert your name - and please let them know if you are a Veteran!], I live in [YOUR CITY]. I’m calling today to ask you to vote NO on S. 2372 , the VA Mission Act. Every dollar spent on privatized care deprives our veterans of the specialized care in the VA - specialized care that saves their lives and helps veterans heal more effectively. This bill will also create a BRAC commission leading to the closure of some VA facilities.
Every lawmaker needs to be contacted about this bill. In the House, some Democrats said they approved the bill ‘by mistake.’ Some actually supported it because they were pressured to do so. We can’t let a similar scenario play out in the Senate.
There’s only a few days to make a difference. Please call 833-480-1637 and tell your senator “Oppose S. 2372, the VA MISSION ACT.”
There is no doubt about it. The Koch Brothers want to knock off the VA and they’re pulling out all the stops to do it. If we don’t act now, future generations of veterans may no longer have access to the VA as their first choice for healthcare.
Sincerely,
The VHCAC Team
P.S. Can’t get through to your lawmaker? Write a letter using the resources on our website, vhcac.org. You’ll find an analysis of the bill there, too.
