Governor Janet Mills has reportedly signed on to a sweetheart deal with Central Maine Power in support of building this massive transmission corridor through our pristine woods.
This is a 180 degree change from her prior position.
On the campaign trail last year, Governor Mills was asked if she supported building the corridor. She said: "Probably not, because there are so many unanswered questions and people aren't being told the truth about what's going on there."
Fast forward to last week.
Governor Mills secretly met with the CEO of Iberdrola, CMP's Spanish parent company.
She also signaled support for CMP's dealmaking efforts in an interview: "I like the progress that they are making. And I like the subject areas they are addressing."
And the bombshell came on Friday, when the Bangor Daily News reported that Gov. Mills has secretly signed on to the deal to support building this corridor.
We don't understand why she's picking corporate lobbyists and environmental devastation over the Maine people and our beautiful state. We don't understand why she has flip-flopped on this critical issue.
So we need you to email Gov. Mills NOW and let her know she messed up! She needs to REJECT the CMP Corridor!
