This space is dedicated to the proposition that we need to know the history of the struggles on the left and of earlier progressive movements here and world-wide. If we can learn from the mistakes made in the past (as well as what went right) we can move forward in the future to create a more just and equitable society. There’s only 4 days to show, with hundreds of thousands of people on the streets across the US, that we will not cede one inch to this administration’s right wing agenda.
Below you will find a list of cities where we are organizing student walkouts and demonstrations. We are also organizing, “Inaugurate the Resistance” with Jill Stein, Kshama Sawant, Chris Hedges, Chase Iron Eyes, Tim Canova and others in Washington DC on January 21st to discuss how the 99 percent can defeat the coming attacks from Trump (get your tickets here!).
Movement for the 99%, with our partners Socialist Students and Socialist Alternative, have been at the forefront of leading the resistance against Trump and his hateful, pro-billionaire class agenda. We were the first organizations to call for mass struggle following his election victory, with over 50,000 taking up our call and now we are organizing nationally coordinated walkouts and protests in 16 cities. This points to what’s needed now to challenge and push back against this administration's determination to turn back the clock on women’s rights, immigrant rights, labor rights, and protections for the environment: mass, united movements of everyday working people and youth.
We are determined to stand up against this billionaire’s agenda of hate and division. But we need your help. Please join us on January 20th and the 21st and spread the word on Facebook about your local walkout/demonstration (see below) and for “Inaugurate the Resistance”. Please make a contribution of $25, $50, or $100. We’ve spent nearly $10,000 nationwide to organize our actions - making thousands of pickets signs, fliers, posters, renting venues, and sending our organizers out to build actions.
Trump and his fellow billionaires have tremendous resources to bring to bear, but we have you. You who powered the historic Sanders campaign. You who funded the successful fightback at Standing Rock. And you who will help build a powerful movement against the attacks from Trump and the Republican Party.
