Ajamu Baraka is the national organizer for the Black Alliance for Peace, which was launched on April 4th of this year, the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s “Beyond Viet Nam” speech where he came out against the Viet Nam war. Baraka will talk with us about this work and about re-building the anti-war movement in the face of a government which is devoted to “full spectrum dominance”. Baraka is an internationally recognized advocate for human rights with roots in the Black Liberation Movement and was the Green Party Vice Presidential candidate in 2016. This space is dedicated to the proposition that we need to know the history of the struggles on the left and of earlier progressive movements here and world-wide. If we can learn from the mistakes made in the past (as well as what went right) we can move forward in the future to create a more just and equitable society.
