Help spread the spirit of the West Virginia teachers! Sponsor sending youth labor organizers to Labor Notes, an important organizing convention in Chicago The recent victory of the West Virginia teachers show that when working people and youth come together and self organize into a movement, we can win major reforms. This is true even in the face of savage resistance, like who the West Virginia teachers defeated - a state government dominated by an emboldened Pro-Trump Republican Party. The teachers also showed that the model of mass action with an escalation of tactics, such as mass strikes, occupations, and demonstrations is the key to winning. To take decisive action and win, rank-and-file teachers had to go against the advice of the more conservative union leadership and form an impromptu independent and alternative leadership from the teachers themselves - including socialists - in the wildcat strike leaders. Labor Notes expects 2,500 union activists from around the country. Please donate $25, $50, or $100 today to help send socialist youth labor activists, from across the country to Labor Notes.This is an opportunity for organizers to learn from each other’s struggles, both in the labor movement and outside of it, and to gain valuable organizing skills to more effectively spread the spirit of resistance embodied in the West Virginia teachers. Across the country this spirit of struggle, ignited by a fierce anti-Trump mood, is spreading and finding its expression in all corners of society. The 800 March 24th March for Life demonstrations across the country, when again hundreds of thousands took the streets, was called by the Parkland high school survivors! Through organized mass movements working people and youth can defeat the onslaught of attacks from the Trump administration and the billionaire class.  The upcoming U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Janus vs. AFSME, which would level a powerful blow to the public sector workers, can be defeated with a mass movement and, if necessary, strike action and coordinated national action, such as a march on Washington D.C. to occupy the Supreme Court. The spirit of struggle and resistance is spreading. Inspired by West Virginia, Oklahoma teachers, with Arizona teachers soon to follow, are planning to strike on April 2. However, we need to turn the anger in society into organized resistance on a much broader scale. To that end, we need to help train the young, emerging labor and student leaders.
