The 2020 election is our last, best shot to elect a President and Congress who can make the Green New Deal a reality before it’s too late to save civilization as we know it from climate catastrophe. We need to defeat Trump, and then rise up alongside millions of Americans until our newly elected leaders respond to this crisis like the emergency it is.
I’ll be honest. Right now, our movement still isn’t big enough to pull that off. We need thousands more Sunrise leaders across America.
That’s why we’re launching the first ever Sunrise Summits this summer. We’ll be holding 4 regional summits in cities across the US. At each one, hundreds of Sunrise members will come together to learn skills, connect and strategize with other hubs, and prepare to ramp up our work leading into 2020.
By the end of the summer, we’ll have trained thousands of new leaders, making this the biggest moment of scaling up our movement has ever seen.

At the Summits, we’ll talk about what it’s going to take to actually win the Green New Deal after the 2020 elections. We know that the level of societal transformation necessary to take the Green New Deal from plan to reality won’t come easily.
To compel politicians to make the Green New Deal law, we’re going to need massive mobilization and disruption in every corner of the country before AND after the 2020 election unlike anything we’ve seen in our lifetimes: millions of people walking out of school, shutting down government offices, and taking to the streets to tell our leaders: this is a crisis, our lives are on the line.
And in order to be that movement, capable of that level of disruption, we’ll need thousands of leaders, in every town and city, who have the skills and determination to take action.
