Last Chance to Put Peace Into the Election!

 

	Between now and November 8th, Veterans For Peace has a unique opportunity to highlight that #PeaceIsPossible.  We can and MUST use every venue to share our experiences and help people understand that war is not the answer. Every week, from now until the election, Veterans For Peace will release a list of questions for the presidential candidates, and we want YOUR help  Our focus this week: Palestine An Israeli general, Miko Peled often said to his guests from the U.S., "Go back and tell your government not to provide a never-ending supply of U.S. weapons to Israel, otherwise Israel will never have an incentive to return Occupied Territories to Palestinians.” Would you favor cancelling the recent promise of $38 billion in U.S. weapons shipments to Israel over the next 10 Years? The International community considers the establishment of Israeli settlements in the Israeli-occupied territories illegal under international law. The United Nations Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Court of Justice have all affirmed that the Fourth Geneva Convention applies to Israel's settlements. Will you, if elected president, stand up for international law regarding Israel's transferring of its own population into these occupied territories? President Obama resisted the immense pressure of AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) to push the United States into a war with Iran. Are you prepared, as president, to do what is best for the people of the United States, and continue to resist war with Iran? Over 2,000 Palestinian civil society organizations have called for the rest of the world to apply pressure on Israel through Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS).  In the U.S. we have seen an increase of legislative attempts to make anything related to BDS illegal.  Will you stand up to this type of censorship of non-violent activism?  Will your administration call for the U.S. to join with many other countries leadership in applying pressure to Israel through BDS?
