20,000 nurses and hospital workers endorse Socialist!
Friends,
I’m excited to announce that our campaign for Minneapolis City Council has been endorsed by the Minnesota Nurses Association!
The MNA represents 20,000 members and has a proud history of being at the forefront of struggle. They endorsed Bernie’s campaign and played a critical role in the fight for a $15/hr minimum wage in Minneapolis. At the same time the MNA led an historic strike against one of the largest hospitals in the region, and even in the dark days of #TrumpCare, the MNA still fights relentlessly for #MedicareForAll.
We launched this campaign to continue the political revolution against the billionaire class, on an independent basis, unapologetically representing working people, and without taking any money from corporate executives and big developers.
But we should be clear that a campaign like ours is going up against some of the most powerful corporations in the U.S - like Target, and trade groups like the Chamber of Commerce. In fact, the Twin Cities are home to 17 Fortune 500 companies – the highest concentration in the country! And they are all ferociously opposed to our calls for a $15 an hour minimum wage and to tax the rich and big business to fund healthcare, education and affordable housing.
Can we count on you to stand with us against the billionaire class by donating $25?
Minneapolis is effectively a one party town, run almost top to bottom by the Democratic Party -- yet we have to fight for a $15 minimum wage and our city is becoming increasingly unaffordable for working families. Rents have climbed 15% while wages have remained stagnant, especially for women and people of color, giving Minneapolis the unacceptable reputation for the worst inequalities in the country.
It doesn’t have to be this way. We can build a political alternative that represents the needs of the millions not the millionaires and billionaires. But we need your help contribute $25 today.
In solidarity,
Ginger Jentzen
