This week, in honor of Farmworker Awareness Week, college campuses, restaurants, healthcare facilities, and many other partners of Compass Group USA were flooded with beautiful new graphics about the Fair Food Program – and an invitation for everyday consumers and socially-conscious college students to get involved in the Fair Food movement! The efforts are being driven by Compass’s Student Success interns, Chartwells, Morrison Healthcare, Compass staff and Fair Food Chefs, many of whom have had the opportunity to visit Immokalee, speak directly with farmworkers and community leaders, and witness the impacts of the Fair Food Program first hand.
In a timely coincidence with the growing wave of student organizing in the Campaign for Fair Food, Compass’s consumer education campaign is taking place this week on a dizzying array of college campuses. Students are taking Farmworker Awareness Week to a new level at Ringling College of Art, Northeastern University, Northwestern University, Northeastern University, Northwestern University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Wichita State University, the University of Arkansas, Schreiner University, Winona State University, Quinnipiac University, Keene State University, the College of Fenway, Monclair State, Washburn University, University of Massachusetts, Clarion University, St. Cloud University, Carroll University, St. Johns University, Florida International University, Worcester Polytechnical Institute, Becker College, Rockhurst College, Youngstown State University, Purdue University Northwest, Missouri State University, Barry University, Salem State University, Austin Peay State University, Northern Kentucky University – and that only a slice of the full list of schools!
Today, we wanted to share a few highlights from the flood of on-campus activities and social media play that Compass has unleashed in its #ICareAboutFair Campaign. The Student Success Interns, who visited Immokalee back in February, have taken what they learned at CIW’s headquarters in Florida and crafted powerful local campaigns to get students involved all across the nation. University of Arkansas student Liz Young
posted an article detailing her experience in Immokalee, while other enterprising interns got the message out with activities on campus and social media:
