Beyond The Bomb-Call on Congress to rein in Trump's absolute nuclear authority.

Is this a new group? I hadn't heard of them before,
but good to know of their existence.

Call on Congress to rein in Trump's absolute nuclear authority.

Donald Trump thinks nuclear war is a joke:

It’s not a joke. This “button” measuring contest could spell life or death for millions of people.
It’s hard to overstate how dangerous nuclear weapons are, or just how close Trump has brought the world to nuclear war. We have to mobilize now and force Congress to rein in Trump’s launch authority before he takes us over the edge.
With North and South Korea taking steps toward diplomatic talks for the first time in years, this is precisely the wrong move from Trump. And the fact that his schoolyard taunt is backed up by virtually limitless power to launch nuclear weapons means it must be taken seriously.
There are no right hands for nuclear weapons, but it’s clear that so long as they exist, some are worse than others. If it wasn’t obvious before that Trump is totally unfit to have the nuclear codes, his unprecedented tweet last night drove it home.
We may not be able to take Twitter away from the president, but we can take away his ability to single-handedly start nuclear war. Congressional legislation could establish common sense limits on the President’s absolute launch authority and immediately make us safer. With the whole world reeling in response to his latest outburst, now is our chance to push for these desperately-needed reforms.
We can’t afford to let Congress sit this one out while Trump blunders ahead with one finger on Twitter and the other on the nuclear button. We need to rein in his nuclear power, and with your help we can make that happen.
Enraged but engaged,
Lillyanne Daigle, Beyond the Bomb
