Hi Dan,

Veterans for Peace Chapter 9 supports this resolution (money out of politics; corporations are not people). It may be voted on in the Senate today - something we just learned about. The emergency is described below in a copy of the Action Alert sent to members and endorses of the resolution.

Would you be willing to send it to your members? It is last-minute but every voice counts.

I also sent documents that clarify why an Article V is necessary.

Hi Jane, The We the People Resolution, S.2243, is on the calendar for a likely vote in the MA State Senate today - Thursday June 14. But it's whole purpose is in DANGER! We have heard that an amendment will be proposed that will remove the essential section of S.2243 by removing the call for an Article V amendment-proposing convention. The remaining bill would merely ask Congress to propose an amendment to overturn Citizens United v. FEC.Removing the call for an Article V amendment-proposing convention is unacceptable! Six years ago the MA legislature already passed a resolution asking Congress to propose the amendment we urgently need, as have 18 other states, but Congress has not acted. It's time to "up the ante" and call for an Article V convention to put real pressure on Congress to act. Call your State Senator TODAY - Thursday! (You can find your State Senator's phone number by clicking here, entering your address, clicking the "Search" button, and then clicking on your Senator's name.) What to say: Please pass a clean S.2243, with no amendments. Please vote against any amendment to gut the bill by removing the petition for an Article V amendment-proposing convention.
