"All of a sudden, this all became very real," the Mike Wong podcast
Podcast: Mike Wong, "All of a sudden, this all became very real"
“When I was in medic training, the My Lai Massacre hit the front pages. … All of us, including me, were devastated by it. We were utterly horrified by it. It left no doubt what we should believe about the war. Then with my lawyer, I went and turned myself in to the Presidio stockade, and refused orders to Vietnam.”
This year marks 50 years of GI resistance, in and out of uniform, for many of the courageous individuals featured in our currently weekly podcasts highlighting Vietnam-era veterans. During our first week, we've raised about $1,000 of the $7,500 needed to produce this year-long series of dozens of interviews. We can't let this history be lost!
“But then something changed. Guys started saying: “I’m not going out there. I’m not going to do this. I’m not going to do that.” That stuff started happening more and more and more and more, such to the point where some people make the claim, and I think rightfully so, that that war ended because the troops were beginning to mutiny big time." Listen to Mike Wong's story now.
