Al,
Amazon just poured $200,000 into CASE, the Seattle Chamber of Commerce’s corporate PAC — and this is just the beginning. We can’t let Amazon and big business buy another election. But we need your help! We need to raise $10,000 before our next fundraising deadline on April 30, to smash our fundraising goal of $100,000.
Can you donate $5, $15, or $150 today? Every donation adds up!
We know that, like in 2015, these corporate interests will unleash a relentless onslaught against Kshama Sawant, the councilmember money can’t buy: from torrents of attack mail to tv ads to hit pieces in the corporate media.
To respond to these attacks, we will need to build the strongest grassroots campaign Seattle has ever seen, so that we can talk to every voter in District 3 about our movements for rent control and Taxing Amazon. Your donation will make it possible for us to:
✓ Print tens of thousands of flyers for use as we knock on every door in Kshama’s district
✓ Rent our field office — a growing challenge as rents continue to skyrocket in District 3
✓ Hire field organizers, all paid at least $15/hr
What’s at stake in this year’s elections is who runs Seattle: Amazon and big business, or working people. Councilmember Kshama Sawant has proven over and over that you can’t serve two bosses: elected officials cannot be accountable to working people and to corporate giants like Amazon at the same time.
Corporate executives can flood hundreds of thousands of dollars into a corporate PAC overnight. Even $200,000 is just a drop in the bucket for Amazon: Jeff Bezos alone makes that back in less than 2 minutes! As always, Kshama Sawant is not for sale to big business, corporate lobbyists, and CEOs. This campaign is funded entirely by the tremendous sacrifice of lots of working people.
Every donation, from $5 to $500, adds up. Please dig deep today and donate before our urgent deadline on April 30.
